The role of PR pro is constantly evolving. Sure, our clients still task us with things like community management, crisis communication and generating media coverage, but they also rely on our team to serve as expert resources, business counselors and trend monitorers … or, as we like to say, to be “know-it-alls” (in the nicest way possible!)
Through this, we all pick up some tips and tricks that we rely on to get work done, exceed expectations and bring a fresh perspective. Here are 10 of our favorite lessons, reminders and motivators:
- Want to generate buzz for your brand while sparking conversation with your customers? Leverage user-generated content to tap into their fans’ creativity, excitement and brand loyalty. (Tweet this)
- When measuring social content, monitor both short- and long-term trends to improve performance and drive strategy. (Tweet this)
- Community isn’t automatic. You have to BUILD one before you can ACTIVATE it. (Tweet this)
- “Big data” may be the big buzzword, but “smart data” is what really matters. Hone in on the data that provides meaningful insights, then use your findings to shape PR and social strategies. (Tweet this)
- Don’t be afraid to try new tactics when engaging with influencers. Think beyond the blog: Invite them to become a brand ambassador, host a webinar or co-create content. (Tweet this)
- Habits – not tools – are the real key to boosting productivity. Adopt these three to keep your projects moving, on time and on task. (Tweet this)
- When it comes to data, remember your ABCs: Always. Be. Collecting. Start gathering data from the get-go so you can use it to drive results, not just analyze them. (Tweet this)
- Even the most seasoned PR pros can lose sight of the who, what and why behind their efforts. Sometimes, you just have to take a step back and rethink who you’re targeting. (Tweet this)
- Believability – and credibility – start with intention. The “why” behind what you’re doing. If your intention doesn’t align with your actions, people will see through you. (Tweet this)
- In a crisis, if you’re not quick, you’re not relevant. Plan ahead so that when a crisis arises, your response is strategic, efficient and effective. (Tweet this)
