Toward the end of December, I took a bit of a blogging hiatus. I also took some time off from work, didn’t tweet nearly as often as I normally do and, generally speaking, enjoyed some quality “offline” time with family and friends. Like many of you, I also used that time to create some goals for 2013. But, I can’t imagine you want to know what those are, right? So, instead of boring you with my personal goals, I want to share a the guiding principles that I hope will keep me — and you — on track throughout the year. Whether you make New Year’s Resolutions, follow the “3 words” approach or use some other method for establishing goals, I hope you’ll find these concepts handy throughout the year.
- Life is not either/or. It’s a series of ands.
- Embrace the crazy.
- When one door closes, another will open.
- Trust your instincts. Always.
- Don’t work with jerks. (aka Surround yourself with the right people.)
- Challenge yourself. Set goals. Then, set stretch goals.
- Fly with your own wings.
- Celebrate successes.
- Do well by doing good.
- Be who you want to be.
