Have you ever heard the phrase “separate the wheat from the chaff?” I heard it today for the first time. Thank God for Wikipedia, or I never would have known what it meant. (I’m still not totally convinced I understand … but whatever.)
Where do people come up with these things? The phrase “goat rodeo” is used a lot in these parts. My boss likes to say Magoo. Thankfully, he explained who Magoo is to me, so I had some idea of what he was talking about.
I think Ohio takes the prize for most oddly pronounced words (crik vs. creek, roof vs. ruff, etc), but the South wins for weirdest phrases. For sure.
