Double-Shot: Spark Creativity

When I first started the blog, I used to have a regular feature, called the Double Shot, where I’d highlight two people, tools, articles, etc. The goal was to provide a quick read with helpful, actionable takeaways. Who knows why I stopped, but it’s time to resurrect that idea! So, welcome back to the semi-regular Double Shot.

To (re)start things off, here are two resources to inspire creativity:

Triggering Tidbits: Ever run out of ideas to write about? In search of a fresh creative spark? Try a triggering tidbit. What’s that, you’re wondering? “Nothing more than a piece of unusual or little-known piece of information which bloggers for business can use in their posts, tying that information to explanations of their own company’s products, services, and culture in order to capture online readers’ interest,” according to Rhonda at Say it for You. Basically, you take a totally random fact and try to think about how it could connect to a client. We did this exercise internally today, and it definitely got the creative juices flowing. Here are two triggers we used, if you want to give it a try:

  • A theater in Paris has shown the movie “Life of Pi” in floating boats.
  • Harrison Ford was fitting a door for Francis Ford Coppola when a studio executive, testing actresses for a new film, asked him to help out by reading the lines written for the male lead. The hero was Han Solo, the movie was Star Wars the rest is legend.
