Very informative post. Thank you. I'm interested in seeing how much a PR person must share the link in order for a Pitch Engine press release to start showing up in google, bing, etc.

Congrats on launching Pitch with Me, Heather! It seems like it will be a valuable tool for PR pros.

I recently created a social media release on PitchEngine to share a client's new/upgraded software announcement. It was a more in-depth announcement that included video and photos, so I previewed the announcement in an e-mail to media and included a link to the PitchEngine release. This helped me avoid embedding a lot of text into an e-mail. I would never attach video/photos in an e-mail to a reporter unless they asked me to, so the PitchEngine release allowed me to easily share those with interested media. Reaching out to media with an overview of the announcement and then linking to the full release on PitchEngine for more details proved to work well. I'd definitely recommend PR pros take advantage of this service!

As a side note, your customer service team is awesome. It's so nice to work with people who are readily available to answer questions, etc. Can't wait to see what's in store next!

I still find that most reporters/bloggers prefer an email that succinctly summarizes the pitch and includes a link to the release for more details. I don't tend to pitch via Twitter.

What's your experience been?

What is your preferred method of distribution for your releases to your media contacts, as an attachment to an email or Twitter by link?

Jonathan Bowker, PitchEngine Europe

http://www.twitter.com/jonathanbowker

Wow Heather!
We couldn't have said it better! Thanks for putting PitchEngine through the paces, and sharing your discovery with everyone. I created PitchEngine to better the PR (and media relations) process and I think we're getting closer to our goal. It is indeed important to look at it from outside the traditional box of tools.

More to come from us, so stay tuned!
Jason Kintzler, Founder @pitchengine
