		<description>wow, this thing blog is still alive?  i had given it up for dead long ago.

I had read some reports on what chinese bloggers were saying as regards the girl not being cute enough to be seen singing her own song in the opening ceremony.  it seemed like there were two types of responses.  some people were mad that this would harm how chinese youth view their bodies and the importance of style over substance.  the other reaction is that people were afraid that the West would think they were unable to find a girl who was cute and could sing well, and that this would reflect poorly on their country.</description>
