Good for Wayne Pacelle for looking at this in a positive light. Sure Vick did something very wrong, but that shouldn't stop him from earning money and getting a second chance.

I think they did a good job of getting a press conference together last night. Eagles head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media and answered questions about the decision making process to sign Vick. Vick was also introduced and spoke this morning at a press conference. I didn't hear anything of Vick signing Tuesday and I didn't hear any ESPN insiders report anything until last night. I don't know if there is a way to soften the blowo to Eagles fans. They were going to be upset/happy either way.

John, I'm with you -- it had to be a leak. However, did the Eagles really think HUGE news like this would stay secret for almost a week? There's no way! I think they really did themselves a disservice by taking such a risk. Wouldn't it have been better if they signed Vick Tuesday followed by a press conference Wednesday? At least then they would have had a better ability to shape the messages and get the positive aspects of the story out. Seems like they royally "fumbled" this one!

I didn't realize an "agreement" had been reached a few days ago. But I'll say this, that the news just happen to break during a night of national attention on football has to be coincidental at the very least. Because of this I'm of the belief that somehow this was an internal leak for attention. And that's where the backfire takes place. Since this story broke less than 24 hours ago I've seen all kinds of talk and interviews on the subject, none of which include anyone from the Eagles and/or Michael Vick communications teams. Huh? Seriously? Speculation isn't a very good game plan. If you're an Eagles fan (I'm a Dolphins fan so I could care less about Eagles football) you'd better hope their on-field game plan is better than their off-field game planning.
