Time to Celebrate YOU at the First-Ever #MeDay

At Geben, one of our House Rules is “Celebrate Successes:

Whether it’s a big win or a small moral victory, celebrate it. Pause to reflect, and enjoy how far you’ve come. And, then get back to it and work toward the next victory.

Sounds good in theory, right? But, how often do you find yourself running from one project to the next? From one task to the next? When you’re incredibly busy, it may seem silly to spend time celebrating victories. That energy, effort and time should be spent driving toward the next big win, right?

WRONG.

Of course you always need to be moving forward; however, you also need to take time to reflect and recharge. That’s why I’m so excited to be partnering with domain.me for first-ever “Me Day” at South by Southwest. On March 16, we’ll be hosting #MEday to encourage entrepreneurs, creatives and everyone else to celebrate their achievements, embrace their one-of-a-kind personalities and connect to what is really important to each of us.

A recent survey conducted by Domain.ME revealed that 70% of Americans feel they don’t take regular “me time” because they lack of time or they feel a sense of guilt for putting themselves first. While the calendar is full of days that celebrate the roles we play in our lives – like Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, or Valentine’s Day – there is no designated day to celebrate individual identity. But, we all could benefit from setting aside some time to indulge, nourish and develop our personal interests and skills.

Ready for a day to celebrate and share what makes each of us unique? If you’re at SXSW, then I hope you’ll join us for the #MeDay party (details). Even if you’re not physically in Austin, you can still get in on the fun. Just use the hashtag #MEDay on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to share how you’ll be taking a little time to celebrate yourself. (Not sure how to get started? Domain.me has some ideas for you!)
